National Women’s History Museum Making Progress
The House Administration Committee met to consider HR 863 and voted recently to support a bill creating a commission to produce a plan to build a privately-funded national women’s history museum.
The museum has been in the works for more than a decade. The bill passed out of the Committee without amendments. This was the first step to getting the bill passed by the House of Representatives. Next step: the bill goes to the House Resources Committee.
It’s been another busy and productive week at PA Headquarters. CEO Deborah Jackson spoke at two high-profile events in New York City last week: She keynoted the National Minority Business Council conference and then spoke about crowd funding at the Johnson Women in Tech event sponsored by Cornell University.
It was a busy bi-coastal week for the PA team. CEO Deborah Jackson and strategic partnership director, Jane Applegate, traveled to Los Angeles for several productive business development meetings.
About a dozen Plum Alley project creators and community members joined us for the first Plum Alley Business Owner’s Check Up event. The Check Up, written by Jane Applegate, our entrepreneur-in-residence and director of strategic partnerships, is an exclusive workbook designed to help business owners take the pulse of their business.
CEO Deborah Jackson was mentioned this week in a story about successful women who formerly worked at Goldman Sachs. Posted by Vitamin W. Deborah also spoke about crowd-funding and financing on Friday at the 23rd Women in Business Conference hosted by the Women’s Student Association at Harvard Business School. A few lucky women also met with her one-on-one for ‘office hours.’
