Allison Tolman’s gallery in New York City celebrates the work of intriguing Japanese artists, each with their own unique story and perspective. Because of Allison’s talent in selecting artists, we have discovered Mayumi and are delighted to showcase her Japanese prints.
A visit to the art studio of an amazing Japanese Artist
When I went to visit Allison’s collection, I was not expecting the flood of emotion that swept through me when I saw Mayumi Oda’s Goddess collection of Japanese prints. Each goddess, in rain or wind, creates an incredible juxtaposition between her womanly strength and the gentle beauty of nature she is set in.
These pieces evoke the glory of women and a celebration of women as powerhouses rather than the more ‘passive’ roles we are so accustomed to seeing in art.
