On Friday, April 25, Deborah Jackson is judging a business plan competition sponsored by the Berkley Entrepreneurship Center for Innovation at New York University’s Stern School of Business. The theme is “Be Disruptive” and the winner will receive $200,000 in prize money and other services.
PHILADELPHIA HERE WE COME
On May 1, 2014, CEO Deborah Jackson heads to Philadelphia to speak at two major events. First Round Capital is hosting “Female Founders Talk Funding,” from 6 to 9 p.m. at their office: 4040 Locust St. Deborah will be joined by Tracey Welson-Rossman, Chariot Solutions and Holly Flanagan, Gabriel Investments.
Also on May 1 & 2, Deborah and Jane Applegate, director of strategic partnerships at Plum Alley, will be attending the We Own It Summit in Philadelphia where Deborah will moderate a salon discussion on the morning of May 2. The topic: Moving the Needle on Women and Funding
This session will explore different ways women raise money ranging from friends and families, angel investors, strategic partnerships, venture capital and more. During the conversation, the focus will be on what can be changed and setting priorities for collaboration.

On May 28, join Plum Alley’s Jane Applegate and other speakers at the City University of New York for a day of workshops devoted to helping women business owners succeed. The opening keynote is by Vanessa Loder, a former finance professional who founded Akoyapower, www.akoyapower.com. Her company offers coaching and transformation programs.
Other speakers include Carrie Kerpen, Likeable Media, Sue Williams, founder of the The Story Exchange, Teena Touch, PR expert, Nelly Yusupova, founder of Tech Speak and Webgrlls.
