As you might have guessed, we’re big fans of women helping women around here. So when designer Naomi Spindel and her exclusively female team came on our radar, we were obviously intrigued. Not only did Spindel promote women in the workplace by choosing to work with female collaborators for her Spring/Summer 2014 lookbook, but she’ll also feature “real women” non-professional models wearing the uber-comfy yet luxurious pieces in her collection when it debuts at New York Fashion Week in September. After doing stints at J.Crew, Oscar de la Renta, Alexander Wang, and Proenza Schouler, she raised all the funds for this first independent foray into fashion design in a whirlwind six days through Kickstarter. Check out her behind-the-scenes video to see why she’s a girl after our own heart — and we hope yours, too.
