“I look for things in nature that have repetitive fluctuating beautiful fluid forms”
Serving as a powerful backdrop to the Ritz-Carlton lounge in Boston, Jill Malek’s ‘Resurrection’ in wheatspun and noir makes a bold statement evocative of timeless style and modern design. Her wallpapers have decorated the walls of the Premiere Vision Trade Show in Paris, the Vosges flagship store in Chicago, and the Google offices in Los Angeles.
“Everything that I do is about commenting on forms and patterns of movement that I see in my everyday life. ”
Deriving her inspiration from movements in everyday life, Jill Malek’s ‘frequency’ collection showcases moments in nature as memorable events. Striving to bridge the gap between interior design and art, Jill’s creations adds sophistication to the seemingly mundane. Each print is hand-printed in Jill’s studio in Brooklyn, which is a converted bowling alley.
Perhaps what sets Jill apart from most wallpaper artists is her intricate knowledge of design and attention to detail. Having worked extensively in graphic design for most of her career, Jill’s passion to fulfill her creative expression led to imaginative and innovative new wallpaper designs. Her first print was inspired by the movements of a flock of pigeons she watched across the street. Since then she has found inspiration from stains left by cups at social gatherings, moving lights in the city, and the natural movements of animals.
