When we first met with LuxCartel, we were fascinated by the impressive selection of up-and-coming designers they had on display. LuxCartel, which was founded by Natalya Rovner and Jenna Sloan in 2009, is well known for their curation of amazing products by designers all over the world. Their aim is to find and cultivate what’s next in fashion by providing these talented emerging designers with their business expertise. Though many designers we saw in LuxCartel’s showroom impressed us, it was the intriguing designs of Mina Ro Mina that sparked our immediate interest. Upon our introduction to their founder Erika Ponce, it became clear that we had discovered a true gem: an amazing woman with a dynamic and exciting collection.
Renowned for her impeccable attention to detail, Erika Ponce began her career apprenticing for jewelry brands around the world. The Mexico-native began designing her own work, utilizing the natural resources and refined craftsmanship near her studio in Guanajuato – a historical state with an abundance of silver and stone mines. Erika’s intricate designs are hand crafted with high quality Peñoles sterling silver. Growing up near one of the biggest mines in Mexico, Erika was surrounded and compelled by the natural resources that would eventually inspire the name of her company; “Mina” is the Spanish word for ‘mine’.
